The Mary Potterton Memorial Concert Series capers on, with its 8th performance taking place Wednesday, July 24th at 7:30 p.m. This concert will take us more than halfway through the season!

Classical pianist Charles Jones will perform. Mr. Jones began playing and studying at an early age, going on to earn a Master of Music Degree from the Juilliard School and a Bachelor of Music Degree from North Carolina School of the Arts. The SummerKeys faculty has been honored by his participation since 2000.

For this enchanting concert, Mr. Jones will play the famous and very challenging “Waldstein” Sonata, Beethoven; the river-like “Jeux d’eau,” Maurice Ravel; and the following Chopin pieces: “Etude in E Major,” “Ballade in G minor, Op. 23,” “Ballade in F minor, Op. 52,” and “Four Impromptus.” Hosted by Lubec Landmarks and Love’s Kitchen.

This concert will be held upstairs in Lubec’s Congregational Christian Church. Concerts are free, but piano-tuning donations are always welcome. For info about SummerKeys, visit, call 207-733-2316, or e-mail

The Downeast Windjammer Eastport-Lubec Ferry (546-2927) will be running again this year, with special 6:30 pm trips for all Wednesday concerts.
