ORONO, Maine — The Orono Town Council will consider a resolution to support a Constitutional Amendment to Citizens United so that election spending can be regulated at 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 14, at held at the Orono Town Municipal Building Council Chamber, 59 Main St.
On election day 521 Orono citizens signed a card calling on legislators to support a Constitutional Amendment to Citizens United, which ruled that corporations are people and can give unlimited dollars to campaigns without having to disclose their contributions. Maine Citizens for Clean elections will bring the 10,000 cards people signed in Maine on election day to the State House at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22.
