Maine Soup is a micro funding soup dinner in which attendees give a three- to four-minute presentation on a creative project that benefits the local community. Afterward, guests enjoy homemade soup, network, and give a silent ballot for the artist they would like to fund. The funding comes from a $5 entry fee. This is a non-profit enterprise.

Maine Soup is in service of the development and growth of Bangor/Orono’s creative enterprises. Perhaps of equal importance to the fiscal support that artists require for projects is the creative support that is offered from community. Maine Soup creates a platform for both essential elements by bringing artists together over a bowl of soup to participate in critical discussion, share creative ideas and collaborate in projects that benefit the entire community. Specifically, the goal is to support artists by funding their projects directly and operating as a site for networking, critical discussion and collaboration
