HARMONY, Maine — Barlettyarns, a 192-year-old mill that has been spinning wool with the last “mule” used in commercial production in the United States, according to a mill press release, will hold its annual open house 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Aug. 2 and 3, at the mill at 20 Water St. Tours are about an hour long and the mill store will be open. 683-2251 or visit www.bartlettyarns.com. The mill press release describes the “mule” as a piece of machinery that replicates the motion of a hand spinner on a large wheel times 240 at a time.
