Rape Response Services, serving Penobscot and Piscataquis counties, is looking for dedicated, responsible and caring individuals to join their lively team of volunteer advocates.
Volunteer advocates accompany victims of sexual assault to medical, legal and law enforcement appointments during their scheduled shifts. Volunteers are supported by Rape Response Services staff, monthly Advocates’ Meetings, and additional training opportunities.
Rape Response Services is offering a comprehensive, 40 hour, Advocate Training program for prospective volunteers, scheduled to begin on April 2. The training will be offered on Tuesday and Thursday evenings in Bangor.
Volunteers must be at least 18 years old, complete Rape Response Services’ comprehensive advocate training, make a one-year commitment, have access to reliable transportation and telephone and be willing to make a commitment to at least one shift of their choice a week. Background checks are completed on all Advocates.
If you are interested in a rewarding opportunity to grow personally and professionally and would like to learn more by receiving a Prospective Volunteer Packet, contact Alex Turallo at 973-3651 or email@example.com. Applications must be returned by March 25 to participate in this April’s training.
