PORTLAND, Maine — As part of its We Are Maine exhibit series,  the Children’s Museum and Theatre of Maine will hold a the opening of “Just Sew Stories: Hmong History Stitched” 2:30-3:30 p.m. Sunday, June 30, at the museum, 142 Free St. in Portland. The event will offer samples of traditional Hmong foods and making artwork inspired by the traditional Hmong art of the story cloth. Co-curated by Hmong cultural consultant Kue John Lor, the exhibit features handmade Hmong story cloths — beautifully embroidered pictures that show the journeys and daily life of the Hmong people. Also featured are the stories of the museum’s Culture Scholars, four local high school students who moved to Maine from across the world. Admission is $9, free to children under 18 months.
