Student holding fundraiser for fellowship to Ecuador as part of Global Citizen Year

ORONO, Maine — Lillie Mayfield, a recent graduate of Orono High School, is holding a fundraiser South American-themed dinner at 5 p.m. on Sunday, July 28, at Orono United Methodist Church, 36 Oak St., to raise money toward her eight-month fellowship to Ecuador as part of Global Citizen Year.

Global Citizen Year is an organization that exists to help high school graduates bridge their transition to college by providing service learning and leadership training around the world.

Mayfield’s fundraising goal is $2,500. She plans to work within rural communities doing service work in Ecuador.
