The International Homecoming Festival will host a shopping event of the season as one of their many fundraisers. On Thursday, May 9th, local merchants, consultants, and organizations will be on hand with lavish displays of products and gift certificates available for purchase at the “Spring Shopping Spectacular.”
Shoppers can attend and enjoy all of the merchants under one roof for a small admission fee of $2. There will also be a great Chinese auction. Wine and other beverages will be available for purchase from the Calais Motor Inn’s bar.
There is no cost to any business/organization wishing to have a space at the Spring Shopping Spectacular; however, a donation to the Chinese auction is appreciated. Festival Chairperson Marcia Hayward can be reached at 263-4711 for information on attending as a vendor.
This year marks the 40th year for the International Homecoming Festival, an event that celebrates the friendship between the bordering towns of St. Stephen, New Brunswick and Calais, Maine. A small group makes up the committee which has been busy raising funds for costs such as fireworks, parade bands, and new this year, several bounce houses to line the waterfront, all brought to Calais by The Maine Jump. One of these bounce houses consists of a giant water slide–the largest of its kind in New England.
