KENNEBUNK, Maine — HydiWave, a new water taxi service based in Kennebunk, launches its summer shuttle service between Kennebunk and Perkins Cove, Ogunquit, beginning June 14.

Created as a shortcut to circumvent the summer construction season, Hydi Wave is a six-passenger, 24-foot Boston Whaler 240 Outrage with a 250 horsepower Mercury engine.

“I’ve been thinking about expanding my livery service to include a water taxi,” says Hydi Dixon, owner of HydiDrive and now HydiWave, the areas leading livery service between Logan Airport and the Kennebunks, in a press release. “This year, with the construction, it just seemed like the right time to take the plunge.”

This year in particular, both I-95/Maine Turnpike and Route 1 — both major thoroughfares that connect all the towns up and down the Maine coastline are renovating major sections of their blacktop between April and November.

HydiWave was developed by Hydi Dixon, also owner and CEO of HydiDrive, a luxury livery service between Boston’s Logan Airport and Kennebunkport. HydiDrive and HydiWave are both “by reservation only” services that provide customized comfort travel throughout the southern Maine coastline.
