Machias Memorial High School Announces Class of 2014 Honor Parts
The faculty and administration of Machias Memorial High School proudly announce the honor parts for the 2013-2014 school year.
Ian Anderson, son of Jeff and Kristi Anderson of Jonesboro, Maine, has earned the honor of Valedictorian. Ian recently was awarded the Maine Principal’s Association Principal Award and is a Presidential Merit Scholarship recipient. During his time at Machias Memorial High School he has been a member of the Downeast Athletic Conference Student Advisory Board, Student Council, and math team. In addition Ian has been a three season athlete participating in golf, basketball, and baseball all four years. In his senior year Ian participated in golf, soccer, basketball, and baseball. Ian advanced to the state golf championship twice in four years.
Ian will attend the University of Maine at Orono this fall to pursue a degree in sociology with an emphasis in crime and law deviance. His career goal is to become a federal law enforcement officer/DEA agent. Ian also a volunteer fire fighter with the Jonesboro Fire Department.
Kelsie Antil, daughter of Debbie Bousquet of Trescott and Danny Haskins of Lubec, has earned the honor of Salutatorian. During her high school career she has received high honors and honors for academics, played volleyball four years at Washington Academy and was a member of the 2012 State Volleyball Championship team, and played basketball her senior year at Machias Memorial High School. Kelsea has also been an active contributor at Lubec Consolidated School as assistant coach of basketball and cheering teams. Kelsie is an avid outdoorsman and enjoys hunting, fishing, and kayaking.
Kelsie plans on attending the University of Maine at Machias to pursue a degree in early elementary education. Her future career goal is to work with young children as a kindergarten teacher. Kelsea transferred to Machias Memorial High School this fall and has been a wonderful addition to our school.
