Levant man awarded medals for service in military in 1950s

LEVANT, Maine — U.S. Congressman Mike Michaud recently awarded several military medals to Levant resident Herbert J. Evans.

Evans, who was a sergeant in the 32nd Infantry from 1952 to 1954. Some of his service was during the Korean War.

Michaud present the Korean Service Medal, Bronze Service, Star, United Nations Service Medal and National Defense Service Medal on March 25.

Evans is formerly of Littleton.
