For the Mary Potterton Memorial Concert Series’ 7th concert, jazz pianist Kent Hewitt will be performing on Wednesday, July 17th at 7:30 p.m.
Pianist/composer Kent Hewitt is happy to be returning for a 9th season to SummerKeys. Mr. Hewitt teaches jazz piano privately and has performed with his trio throughout New England. A consummate soloist and accompanist, he’s been a mainstay of jazz music in Connecticut and musical director for top Connecticut nightclubs.
For his solo piano concert, Mr. Hewitt will perform “The Preacher,” Horace Silver; Cole Porter’s “I Love A Piano;” “Desafinado,” by Antonio Carlos Jobim; and an original piece titled “Down Home Blues II.” Also on the program are two sets of themed works, “Streets I have Known” (featuring Sunny Side of The Street, On the Street Where You Live, Basin Street Blues, and others) and “A Tribute To New Orleans,” (Rock-A-Bye Your Baby To A Dixie Melody, Birth Of The Blues, and Way Down Yonder In New Orleans). A terrific program full of classic tunes, don’t miss it!
This concert will be held upstairs in Lubec’s Congregational Christian Church at 7:30 p.m., hosted by the Water Street Tavern and Inn. Concerts are free, but piano-tuning donations are always welcome. For information about SummerKeys, visit summerkeys.com, call 207-733-2316, or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
