Fort Kent Legion to mark all veterans’ graves

Posted Oct. 01, 2013, at 10:17 a.m.

Fort Kent: Martin-Klein American Legion Post 133 today is pleased to announce the successful completion of the Veterans Flag Holder Campaign. Just months ago the Legion Post announced their desire to place a US Veteran flag holder on each veterans grave in the Greater Fort Kent Area. With the overwhelming support of individuals and businesses in the community an order was placed today well in advance of the goal of Veterans Day 2013.

Special thanks go out to Fiddlehead Focus, Paradis Shop-n-Save, Northern Maine Medical Center, Katahdin Trust Company and Plourde Morneault & Dubay for their generous support and the individual donors who made it possible to achieve our goal of 600 holders . The Martin-Klein Post marks over 570 graves in the Greater Fort Kent Area and next spring the holders will be placed at each veteran’s grave to identify the grave year round and help ensure that no veteran grave is left unmarked.
