PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — The city of Presque Isle is happy to announce that it will be posting updates on Twitter.
Twitter is a social networking and microblogging service that allows users to post short messages, no more than 140 characters, called “tweets,” to a group of followers.
City Manager Jim Bennett said in a press release Tuesday that it is vital the city have a presence on social media.
“Utilizing social media is a new cost-effective component to our online communications strategy,” Bennett stated. “Embracing technology and social media applications, such as Twitter or Facebook, can be a great opportunity to make connections with our residents, while distributing helpful information to them in real-time. It’s a smart and easy way to stay current with the latest information Presque Isle has to offer.”
