The recently launched, interactive community website – http://www.ourMidCoast.com – promoting local independent businesses has announced today, it is planning the first Cash-Mob in Rockland, on Thursday, August 30th.
CASH-MOBS have have provided some economic stimulus to community-based businesses around the country during tough economic times. “It’s a simple, fun concept,” says Gordon Orme, founder of ourMidCoast.com. “A group gathers, each person with at least twenty dollars to spend, and “mobs” a local independent business. The group then convenes for a ‘post-mob’ celebration at a local tavern or restaurant. It’s a good opportunity to meet the neighbors and support community based businesses. The only three requirements to participate: 1) bring at least twenty dollars to spend; 2) meet some new friends; 3) HAVE FUN!”
More information about the first “Mid Coast Cash-Mob,” meeting in Rockland, is now available at the new Cash-Mob Rockland Facebook page: www.Facebook.com/CashMob.ourMidCoast and the website: http://www.ourMidCoast.com
Gordon Orme is “from away” and after many years as summer visitors to the Mid Coast with their two children, he and his wife have now moved to Rockport. Gordon feels strongly about supporting our community economy, that we shop local, buy local, and support local. “After all, local community-based businesses give back to the community in so many ways.”
