JONESPORT, Maine — The faculty and administration of Jonesport-Beals High School have announced the class parts for the school year 2012-13.
Valedictorian is Louisa Beal, daughter of Diane and Glenn Beal of Beals. In addition to numerous academic awards, Louisa has been on the honor roll every quarter since entering J-BHS; and has received several academic awards and distinctions. She has excelled in the Jonesport-Beals sports program participating in volleyball, basketball, cheering, and softball. She received recognition in volleyball as a DAC all-star, as well as, a Maine Senior Academic first team member.
Louisa has participated in the school plays, the school recycling program, the Energy4ME camp, the mentoring program, and the school blood drive. Louisa plans to attend Becker College in Worcester, Massachusetts where she will be majoring in Veterinary Science.
Salutatorian is Morgan Merchant, daughter of Jill and Sidney Merchant Jr. of Beals. Morgan is a member of the National Honor Society and has earned various academic and service awards. She has been extremely active in the sports programs and has participated in several sports leadership programs.
Morgan plans to attend the Husson University in Bangor where she will be majoring in Occupational Therapy and playing basketball for the Husson Eagles.
The class history will be given by Kelsey Jones, daughter of Wilma and Robert Jones of Jonesport; the class prophecy by Ashley Todd, daughter of Shannon Todd of Glenburn; the class will by Thomas Beal, son of Vondell and Calvin Beal of Jonesport; the class gifts by Garet Beal and Cody Whitt. Garet is the son of Pamela and Lindell Beal of Beals, and Cody is the son of Jennifer Brown and Frank Cirone of Jonesport.
