Over 16 miles (25 km) of trails throughout the north end of the Monument are groomed courtesy of Elliotsville Foundation, Inc. On XC skis or on snowshoes, you can explore along the shores of East Branch of the Penobscot River and head south to Stair Falls, Haskell Pitch, or the Big Spring Brook.
On Saturday, March 7, the Friends of Katahdin Woods & Waters will be hosting members, supporters, and winter enthusiasts for guided skiing and snowshoeing along the banks of the East Branch of the Penobscot.
Volunteers are on standby by to get you, your group, or your family trained up and ready to hit the trails. We recommend you wear warm layers, and pack yourself water, lunch, snacks, sunglasses, and sunscreen. Before or after your adventure through the Monument, stop by the firepit at the trailhead for hot cocoa and marshmallows.
