BANGOR — Prior to becoming one of Maine’s newer authors, Hampden resident Jack Cashman had a long and varied career in Maine that included business ownership, five terms in the Maine House of Representatives, and a variety of roles in the administration of Governor John Baldacci.
In 2018 Mr. Cashman’s published his first book, “An Irish Immigrant Story,” which is an historical novel based on his own family’s experience of fleeing the potato famine in Ireland and coming to America in search of a better life.
Join us on Tuesday, December 10, at 6 pm at the Bangor Public Library where Mr. Cashman will talk about what such an experience entailed, providing pertinent background information and historical context, and comparing the Irish experience with the experience of other immigrant groups.
