HOLDEN — Fields Pond will hold a talk “The History and Future of Atlantic Salmon in the Penobscot River” 7-8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, at 216 Fields Pond Road.
Join acclaimed author and science writer, Catherine Schmitt, as she discusses the long natural and human history around Atlantic Salmon in Maine’s rivers, including past and ongoing efforts to regulate the fishery and restore this historic migration. This event is part of Maine Audubon’s celebration of the “International Year of the Salmon.”
Catherine Schmitt is author of “The President’s Salmon: Restoring the King of Fish and its Home Waters,” and writes frequently for newspapers, magazines and literary journals. Her writing is informed by her background in environmental science and field experience in rivers, lakes, forests, wetlands, and beaches throughout the Northeastern U.S. She lives in Bangor, Maine. Catherine will be available to sign copies of her books.
