BATH — The Kennebec Estuary Land Trust will hold a “Growing Great Garlic” workshop 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, at the LOCAL garden, corner of High and Lemont Streets. Led by garden coordinator Laurie Burhoe, this workshop will discuss and showcase the best practices for growing great garlic in Maine.
Topics during the workshop will include garlic varieties, soil preparation, planting, mulching, harvesting and curing. Seed stock will be available with a suggested $5 donation to support the garden. Burhoe has been involved with the LOCAL Garden since 2010 and became the land trust’s garden coordinator in 2016. As a Maine master gardener, she works with children, adults and families to care for the LOCAL Garden and teach gardening techniques.
This is a light rain or shine event with a suggested $5 donation to help cover the cost of materials. Please sign-up by visiting kennebecestuary.org or calling 207-442-8400.
