GREENVILLE — A Little Kineo Mountain hike and stewardship day will be held Sunday, Sept. 15. Meet up time is 9 a.m. at the Moosehead Center Mall, 27 Moosehead Lake Road, to carpool to the Little Kineo trailhead. Return time is 4 p.m.

Work will consist of building bog bridging in the roughly 1-mile trail’s lower section, and marking the mountain’s 1,927′ summit. There will be time for hikers to summit, explore, and enjoy amazing views in all directions of Maine’s largest lake, undeveloped islands, and a myriad of peaks including Kineo, Big Moose, Big and Little Spencer and Katahdin. No previous experience is required and all ages are welcome, although children should be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Heavy duty tires and high clearance vehicles are recommended.

What to bring: Lunch, snacks, water, gloves, sunscreen/ bug spray, layers/ rain gear, eye protection, folding saws or loppers (if you’ve got them, but not required). Please wear sturdy footwear (boots) and appropriate clothing for trail work.

Please note that in the event of wet weather, the event will be cancelled.
