BELFAST — The Original Belfast Farmers’ Market will hold “Taste the Market Day” 9 a.m. 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 16, at 256 High St. In addition to live music, the market will feature live cooking demo’s by Belfast Farmers’ Market Vendor, The Maine Meal. Cooking demo’s will include the use of fresh ingredients available at the market, free taste testing and take home recipe cards so customers can cook their own delicious and healthy meals from ingredients grown and produced by market vendors.
Belfast Farmers’ Market also accepts SNAP and EBT market wide for qualifying purchases and participates in the Maine Harvest Bucks nutrition incentive program. Shoppers using EBT and SNAP benefits for food purchases at market will receive one dollar in Harvest Bucks coupons for every dollar spent. The coupons may be redeemed at the market for qualifying locally produced fruits and vegetables. Shoppers should stop at the Info Table before shopping to make use of this program.
