Schrader will share from her Chaucer-award finalist book, “Rebels against Tyranny: Civil War in the Crusader States,” 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15, at the Blue Hill Public Library, 5 Parker Point Road. This historical novel is set against the backdrop of the Sixth Crusade, taking the reader from the harems of Sicily to the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem, from the palaces of privilege to the dungeons of despair.
According to Helena, her books seek to “bring history back to life as a means to better understand ourselves.”
