Event Date & Time: June 16, 2019 6:00 pm until June 16, 2019 8:00 pm

BELFAST — INQUIRE WITHIN Productions and The Maskers will host a community storytelling event 6 p.m. Sunday, June 16, at Basil Burwell Theater, 17 Court St. Come listen to locals tell stories and/or share your own. This is the culminating event of the Belonging through Regional Storytelling Workshop, led by Jerry Stropnicky. Participants have been exploring applications of story work in personal storytelling, community empowerment and regional exploration, connecting personal storytelling with larger community stories.

Workshop leader Gerard Stropnicky brings a wealth of experience in story, and more than 40 years as a multi-faceted theater professional. In addition to teaching story workshops, he writes and directs large-scale, site-specific productions featuring community casts, accessing local stories that address intractable issues within the community in Appalachia, the Deep South and Pennsylvania. He has also worked in communities in Rwanda and northern Uganda. Stropnicky was a co-founder of Network of Ensemble Theaters. He also co-founded Bloomsburg Theatre Ensemble (BTE), where he directed and performed for 35 years. He was named United States Artists Lowe Fellow in Theater in 2010.
