CASTINE — The Castine Historical Society’s will show its 2019 season exhibit June 10- Oct. 14 at 17 School Street. The exhibit will showcase 1800s Castine’s working waterfront. Castine merchants and shipowners ran an effective and largely self-contained international trade in fish, cotton, and salt from about 1820-1860. But not without the many risks faced by the men and women sailing wooden ships across the open ocean to carry merchandise to distant ports.
