DOVER-FOXCROFT – The Commons at Central Hall will celebrate its first anniversary with an open house 4-7 p.m. Saturday, May 25, at 152 East Main St. The historic building will be open for tours. Artwork by local students and community members will be on display, accompanied by live classical music. Refreshments and light appetizers will be provided, as well.
During its first year, The Commons has become an integral part of the community as a popular venue for live theater, concerts, weddings, birthdays and forums. Additionally, The Commons calendar is replete with regular programming that attracts a wide variety of participants, including a weekly cribbage club, quilting group, tai chi, yoga classes and more. In efforts to decrease isolation amongst older adults and provide a delicious meal, The Commons hosts a weekly Community Café luncheon, a program of the Eastern Area Agency on Aging.
The Commons is also the site of several special workshops each month, as well as local organizations’ board meetings, seminars and support groups. Contra dances are held on the second Friday of each month. Stay tuned for more evening activities this summer, including free first Friday film nights and a bi-monthly “date night” featuring dinner plus entertainment.
