HOPE — Georges River Land Trust will host a guided snowshoe walk in the moonlight at 6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 17, on a private conservation easement on the shore of Mansfield Pond in Hope. This event is free and all are welcome to attend, but registration by phoning the land trust at 594-5166 is required. Bring your snowshoes and participate in the 1-mile guided adventure. In the event of bad weather, the walk will be held Feb. 18.
Come out for the full moon, listen for owls, and see tracks of other local wildlife in the snow. We’ll head out through the woods, cross a moonlit meadow, and if conditions are right, walk out on frozen Mansfield Pond for a view of the Central Highlands by the light of the full moon. Afterward, our hosts will warm you up with a hot beverage and a sweet treat at their home.
This event is limited to 25 guests and is suitable for children. Call 594-5166 to sign up by Feb. 15. Carpooling is encouraged and registered guests will receive an email with directions to the site. Dress warmly, bring your own snowshoes or ice grippers/cleats, and headlight or flashlight, and we’ll see you in Hope.
