‘After the Glaciers Retreated’ presentation

Event organizer: Sebasticook Regional Land Trust
Event Date & Time: December 12, 2018 6:30 pm

UNITY — The Sebasticook Regional Land Trust is holding the presentation “After the Glaciers Retreated” at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12 at 93 Main Coffee Shop, 93 Main Street.  Dr. Kevin Spigel, professor of Geoscience at Unity College, will explain how our environment has evolved since the glaciers receded.

How has our local Sandy Stream changed from the glacial retreat 12,000 years ago to today? Using core sampling of sediments, radiocarbon dating, stream discharge data, and Geographic Information System (GIS) data Dr. Spigel and his students are trying to answer this question. Sandy Stream is a byproduct of the deglaciation.

All are welcome and please feel free to ask questions. Light refreshments will be available. Admission is free, a $5 donation is suggested.
