PORT CLYDE — Georges River Land Trust will host The Last Hurrah, an end-of-summer boat ride on the Monhegan Boat Line’s Elizabeth Ann featuring oysters, signature drinks, and other yummies, 4-6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13, leaving from the boat line’s dock in Port Clyde. Departure is at 4 p.m. sharp. Tickets for the fundraising cruise are $75 general admission, and $67.50 for Georges River Land Trust members, and are available at http://www.georgesriver.org/event/the-last-hurrah/ or by calling 594-5166. The cruise will depart rain or shine, and tickets are non-refundable.
Brendan Parsons of The Shuck Shack in Newcastle will provide some of the region’s tastiest oysters. He opened Damariscotta River Distribution in Newcastle last year to source and sell a variety of what local oyster farmers are harvesting, including to his own Shuck Shack food cart, Portland’s first oyster street vendor.
Lake St. George Brewing Company out of Liberty will provide the special Headwaters Kolsch it custom-designed for the land trust and first released on Memorial Day weekend. And Last Hurrah Committee Co-Chairs Karin and Bob Weisert will fill out the menu with an assortment of beverages and appetizers to suit every taste.
The Georges River Land Trust is committed to protecting the ecosystems and traditional heritage of the Georges River watershed region. For additional activities and information, visit georgesriver.org or phone 594-5166.
