CASTINE — The Castine Arts Association is pleased to host its sixth Castine Plein Air Festival July 19-21. Thirty-two plein air artists have been juried to attend, and will arrive in Castine on July 18 in preparation for the festival.
The artists will begin painting around the village of Castine on Thursday, July 19, capturing the light and charm of the town in expressive and colorful paintings . For the next three days, the public will enjoy discovering them as the artists select locations and subject matter.
A public reception and art sale will be held 4-6 p.m. Saturday, July 21, at ABS Science and Engineering Center at the Maine Maritime Academy behind 58 Pleasant St. Each artist will display up to six paintings for sale.
Organizers hope that sales will be brisk, as the festival is the single annual fundraiser for the Castine Arts Association. The reception is free and open to the public. The Castine Arts Association looks forward to good weather and fabulous art.
