Author talk: Gary Rainford at Bangor Public Library

Gary Rainford will discuss and perform ekphrastic poems from his new book, “Liner Notes” which showcases 64 musicians as works of art—musicians from Ella Fitzgerald to Bjork to Tony Bennett and Blondie, to name a few.  In addition, Gary will provide a set-list of musicians celebrated in his collection and take reading requests from the audience.  Of course, comments and questions are welcome anytime during Gary’s event, and books will be available for purchase.

About Gary:

Author of two poetry collections, Gary Rainford lives on Swan’s Island, Maine, year-round with his wife and daughter.  Maine Today Magazine showcased Gary’s newest book, Liner Notes, in the column, “Face the Music.”  We Are Here, Gary’s new suite of poems, was an honorable mention selected by Betsy Sholl for The Gabriel Zimpritch Memorial Poetry Prize.  Down East magazine calls Gary a Maine poet at the top of his game.  A tireless advocate for poetry Gary was a guest on WERU’s On the Wing, Poet to Poet, a Somerville Community Access TV show, Poetry by the Bay on WBFY, and Good Morning, Belfast, which celebrates the Good Life in Belfast & Waldo County.  Shaped by tides, saltwater, and music, Gary’s work is published in a wide range of literary magazines, university journals, and newspapers.
