Geologists Amber and Tom Whittaker, who led us on a geology walk of the Belfast Rail Trail in 2017, are coming back by popular demand to give a presentation on the history of Maine and the Mid-Coast, sponsored by the Belfast Bay Watershed Coalition. Our history started when we were “down under” in the Southern Hemisphere, and moved with plate tectonics to our present location. Then we crashed and smashed, split and spread, and most recently, were covered by glaciers which left their mark and molded the landscape into what we see today.

The illustrated talk will be on Thursday, March 15, at 6:30 pm at the Belfast Library. For more information, please visit us at belfastbaywatershed.org

The Belfast Bay Watershed Coalition works to support conservation and stewardship of natural, scenic, and public access resources of the Belfast Bay watershed through research, community-building, and education.
