UNION — The Union Farmers Market welcomes summer as it continues to celebrate the 2019 season “Homegrown & Handmade”. Shop local and join growers and makers from across Maine on the Common across from the Post Office in Union every Friday 3-6 p.m. The market is a rain or shine event that continues through the Oct. 4.
This week the Union Farmers Market welcomes local trio Gardenia who will perform music from the Golden Age of Song in America in originally written arrangements. On June 21 the Market invites the community to enjoy the blues with DW Gill.
With this season’s “Passports to Healthy Living” events the market wants to help kids eat nutritious foods and get to know where their food comes from. Kids can sign up for their “passport” at the Market Information Booth. Each week when they come to the market, they will get a stamp for their passport. After five stamps they will receive Market Bucks to spend on products like fruits and veggies of their choice. Learn to churn butter as we celebrate Dairy Month on June 14. To welcome the arrival of summer, make flower crowns and get your face painted at the Solstice Celebrationon June 21. On June 28 it’s a BBQ where kids make veggie kebabs.
Support Maine’s family famers and small businesses. The Union Farmers Market invites everyone to enjoy locally grown, farm fresh produce along with baked goods, meats, honey and plants and other items. The Union Farmers’ Market accepts WIC and EBT/SNAP.
