Inspired by nostalgic games and thrifty values, sisters, Kelly and Donna recycle game pieces and transform them into one-of-a-kind pendants. Each pendant is meticulously crafted using a reclaimed Scrabble, Domino, Mahjong, or other game piece, handmade Japanese washi paper, and a sterling silver bail.
Kelly and Donna’s mother sketched the illustration for the Two Loons Jewelry Company logo. A native of Unity Maine, Mom’s artwork is inspired by life in Maine and Unity Pond. Each summer, Kelly, Donna, brother Bob, and their families join their Mom and Stepdad at the family camp on Unity Pond. Life on the lake is slow and peaceful and, for an all too short but glorious time, kayaking, board games, and bald eagle watching replace carpooling, hectic schedules, and computers. The summer doesn’t officially begin, however, until the first common loon is sighted and is especially exciting if there is a chick in tow riding on its parent’s back. The common loons provide entertainment all summer long calling one another, diving under the water for fish, and protecting their chick from eagles and osprey overhead.
