Thursday’s UMaine Alumni Awards event to honor Baldacci, Collins family, and others

ORONO — The University of Maine Alumni Association will hold its annual Alumni Achievement Awards event honoring alumni and friends for outstanding public service and professional accomplishments, 5:30-9 p.m. Thursday, April 26, at Wells Conference Center, University of Maine.

Eight individuals, including former Maine Gov. John E. Baldacci and prominent community leader Norman Minsky, will be recognized.

The Don and Pat Collins family of Caribou are also among the honorees; four generations of that family — 13 members — have received a UMaine degree.

 

Award Winners include:

  • Alumni Career Award – Former Maine Gov. John E. Baldacci
  • Fogler Legacy Award – The Don and Pat Collins family of Caribou
  • Distinguished Maine Professor Award – Francis Drummond, Ph.D
  • Champion of UMaine Award – Norman Minsky, Esq.
  • Bernard Lown ’42 Humanitarian Award – Allen and Patricia Morell
  • Pine Tree Emblem Service Award – Todd Saucier
  • Spirit of Maine Achievement Award – George Pullen
  • Rising Star Awards – Brian Harris, Hannah Hudson, and Owen McCarthy

A sell-out crowd of alumni and friends will attend the event, which will feature several visual and creative elements. UMaine alumnus Ric Tyler will emcee the event.

Established in 1875, the University of Maine Alumni Association is an independent, not-for-profit organization dedicated to advancing the best interests of the University of Maine and its former, current and future students.
