The University of Maine Franco American Programs is accepting applications for its after-school French Program.

This program is designed for those children with no exposure to French as well as for those with some experience in the language. Our aim is to make learning French fun in a safe, after-school environment

The classes are organized by ability and students are taught by French and education students who are preparing to become teachers. The program is supervised by Susan Pinette, Director of Franco American Programs and Associate Professor of Modern Languages.

Session II of our fall program will run six consecutive weeks on Mondays and Wednesdays from after-school until 5pm on the UMaine campus at the Franco American Centre. Classes will run from October 31 until December 16 (with no classes the week of Thanksgiving). The theme for this session is “Celebrations and Traditions.”

A $50 fee covers the cost of materials, and a limited number of scholarships are available. A limited number of seats are available on the school bus from Old Town Elementary to the program on a first-come, first-serve basis.
