At long last, The Kinfolk is here! The final installment in G.A. Morgan’s adventure-fantasy trilogy for 8-14 year olds inspired by her own adventures on and around Mount Desert Island. Please join this local author (who learned to read at the Southwest Harbor Public Library) on Friday, October 21st at 7pm at the Southwest Harbor Public Library for a special sneak preview and reading of this very special book. The Kinfolk is already earning advance praise. Kirkus Reviews awarded it a Starred Review, which is only reserved for books of extraordinary merit, saying that it is “teeming with adventure and philosophical richness, this trilogy closer excels.”
The Five Stones Trilogy tells the story of the three Thompson brothers and their neighbors, the two Boudreaux sisters, who travel to a mysterious island called Ayda, where four realms are locked in a destructive struggle for power. The books have received praise for the author’s world-building skills, the philosophy that infuses the adventure, and the strong individuality of the large cast of characters. Book One, The Fog of Forgetting, debuted in 2014, and earned the Silver Moonbeam award for pre-teen fantasy fiction. It was followed in 2015 by Chantarelle. All three books are published by Yarmouth-based Islandport Press.
There will be books for sale and signing and light refreshments will be served. There will also be a fun quiz to take to see where your personality would fit on the Isle of Ayda; Melor, Metria, Exor, or Varuna? For more information, call the Library at 244-7065.
