SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine — The Maine Seaweed Festival will be held 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, at the Southern Maine Community College campus, followed by a “Sustainable Seafood Celebration” ticketed dinner. The event is free and open to the public.
The festival will feature diverse ways to enjoy seaweed through food, art, healing, children’s activities, speakers, music and more. The mission of The Maine Seaweed Festival is to raise awareness and educate the public about the positive impact that Maine macroalgae is playing in our local food culture, agriculture and aquaculture industries, as well as its growing role in the academic arts and sciences.
