Teller to CEO: Saco & Biddeford Savings Institution’s Kevin Savage Celebrates 40 Years
Donations totaling $4,000 were gifted to handpicked local non-profits

SACO, Maine (August 4, 2014) – Saco & Biddeford Savings Institution (SBSI) celebrated president and CEO Kevin Savage’s 40 years with the bank on July 31 at their Saco branch. Joining SBSI as a teller in 1974, Savage has served as president and CEO for the past 18 years.

“It is an honor to have spent the past 40 years with such a talented team as the one at Saco & Biddeford Savings,” said Savage. “The bank has grown immensely since I began my career here and we have been able to accomplish a great deal for our customers, as well as our community. I want to thank my colleagues, friends and the community members for helping to make these past 40 years so successful.”

The ceremony took place in the Saco branch’s new community room, dedicated to Savage last month at a private family and bank employee event. Donations in his honor, totaling $4,000, were presented to local non-profits at the event. Selected by Savage himself, recipients include Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital, Southern Maine Health Care, Dyer Library, Eleanor Paye Charitable Fund, Maine Children’s Cancer Program, Saco Food Pantry, Thornton Academy and Wardwell Neighborhood.

“As a mutual savings bank, giving back to our customers, community and employees is paramount,” said Savage. “We are positioned to continue to grow the bank and provide services and support to those we serve for years to come.”

The oldest bank in Maine and the ninth oldest bank in the United States, SBSI has grown from two to six branches since Savage began his career at the institution. Assets have also grown from $35 million to $816 million over these past 40 years.

“Today’s event was really to honor Kevin for his dedication to not only the bank, but to serving our neighbors. His legacy of generosity is inspiring,” said Donald Lauzier, Community Relations Director of SBSI. “We are proud and grateful to have Kevin leading our team.”
