BATH — Studio Theatre of Bath will hold auditions for its summer/fall production of Mel Brooks’ twisted musical comedy “The Producers” 6 p.m. Saturday, July 13 and 1 p.m. Sunday, July 14, at the Chocolate Church Arts Center, 804 Washington St.
The show will be directed by John Willey, with music direction by Courtney Babbidge and choreography by Ashley Steeves. This is a zany, outrageous musical comedy with a non-stop feed of Mel Brooks’ unique brand of humor popularized in classic films such as “Blazing Saddles,” “Spaceballs” and “Young Frankenstein”. This musical features a large array of adult roles of all sizes and skill levels and a large chorus.
Performances are two weekends with Thursdays (8 shows), October 10-20 at the Chocolate Church Arts Center.
Folks interested in auditioning for singing roles should come prepared with something upbeat to sing, preferably in the Broadway style. Please bring sheet music with you so Courtney can accompany you. We will have sheet music available for certain selections from “The Producers” if you’d prefer to sing something from the show. If you’re seeking a role in only dance or chorus you don’t need to sing, but you’ll likely be asked to do some light movement for the choreographer, so please dress accordingly.
No roles have been pre-cast, and because Studio Theatre’s main goal is quality, we never charge troupe/participation fees for people that want to be in our shows.
