The Town of Pittsfield has been able to pave a few sections of roadways this year. The highway funds are limited due to
budgetary and revenue constraints. Therefore, roadways where a small section could be improved and lead to much better rideability for the roadway were chosen.

Wellman Paving Company will be paving small sections of roadway and the municipal parking lot on Tuesday, August 19 – Thursday, August 21, 2014. Locations that will receive pavement are the following small sections of roadways: Central Street; Library Street; Franklin Street; Middle Street; Birchwood Terrace; Hamilton Terrace; and Snakeroot Road. These are small areas where deterioration has taken place or culverts have been dug up and replaced.

The paving company will also be paving a small section of Higgins Road prior to the Snakeroot Road.

In addition, a section of the Municipal Parking Lot by Connors Street will be paved. Connors Street is the one-way Street running behind Vittles, People’s United Bank, Sebasticook Valley Hospital/HealthySV and Reny’s.

Wellman Paving will also be paving around 13 sewer manhole covers in Town to provide for a smoother drive. These locations are Library at Libby; Library at Manson; 158 Raymond Street; 125 Libby Street; 133 Manson Street; 198 Sebasticook Street; George at Morrill; Hamilton at the sharp corner; 171 Harrison Street; 243 Peltoma Avenue; Peltoma at Nichols; Peltoma at Cianchette; and Crosby at Lancey.

This work will improve the rideability of the streets in the community. We apologize for any inconvenience in traveling or noise that may take place during the paving process. Any questions contact Kathryn Ruth at the Town Office at 487-3136 or John Dickson at the Highway Garage at 487-6942.
