Sexy vampires are this month’s film theme

Twilight was not the first film to portray vampire’s in a seductive light. Several  major Hollywood films over the years emphasize the sexy side of vampires over the horror. Would there be a Twilight without the popular TV shows “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and “Angel” or Joel Schumacher’s (yes, Mr. Batman and Robin) 1987 biker vamps in the movie “The Lost Boys”?

I suggest the following films for the month of November: “The Lost Boys” (’87), Bram Stoker’s Dracula as directed by Francis Ford Coppola (’92), “Interview with the Vampire” as based on the Anne Rice novel (’94), the R. Rodriguez/Q. Tarantino film pairing “From Dusk Till Dawn” (’96) and, of course, the original film in the new franchise “Twilight.”  You may also wish to relive highlights of the Buffy/Angel saga from the TV series, to prepare for the angst felt between a human and vampire lover.

An interesting (though time consuming) way to rewatch the series is through the oft-used flashbacks to the vampires pre-1990s.  I’ve started this endeavor with the ReelWife, using the assistance of a site on-line which has marked exactly which episodes have what flashbacks from each era.  I’m afraid I don’t have the link information but if you web search for chronological Buffy/Angel timeline, you should be able to find it.

Happy vampire month.
