Referendapalooza for Ballot Initiatives to be held at University of Maine at Machias

MACHIAS, Maine — The University of Maine at Machias will hold a Referendapalooza forum discussing the five initiatives on the ballot this November. The Referendapalooza will feature a panel and community discussion led by faculty members Jon Reisman and Garrett Lee, and student Eddie Socker. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend.

The forum is part of UMM’s public service mission and will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, November 3, in Science 102. Science is the first building on the right from the campus’ the front entrance.

The referenda questions are:

-legalize marijuana
-3% surtax on income over $200,000 for Public K-12
-gun control/background checks
-raise minimum wage
-ranked choice voting

The panel will discuss each of the referenda in turn and encourage community discussion of the referenda issues and process.
