ORONO, Maine — Want to win a year’s worth of in-state tuition at UMaine for yourself, a family member or friend, or perhaps a student in need?

The UMaine Alumni Association is again sponsoring its annual tuition raffle to help fund its support of student organizations and alumni programs.

The raffle’s prize is the equivalent of one year’s (30 credit hours) in-state undergraduate tuition for the Orono university’s 2018-19 academic year. The current dollar value of a year’s tuition is $8,370. The Alumni Association will pay the full amount to UMaine on behalf of the raffle winner for his or her designee.

“A suggested donation of $5 per ticket allows us to continue this popular fundraising event,” explained Annie Cambridge, the association’s vice president. “Parents, grandparents, friends, and anyone else 18 years of age or older can participate in the raffle and can designate the UMaine student they’d like to receive the prize.”

Along with covering the cost of the prize, the raffle’s proceeds support the Alumni Association’s mission and programs.

To request tickets or to learn more about the raffle, visit UMaineAlumni.com, stop by Buchanan Alumni House on campus in Orono, or call Erica Sturrock at 207-581-1138. Envelopes containing ticket stubs and checks must be postmarked on or before May 1, 2018 in order to be included in the drawing.

The winning name will be drawn and live-streamed on Facebook on May 10 at 12 noon at Buchanan Alumni House. The winner’s name will be posted on the Alumni Association’s website and social media pages immediately after the winner has been notified.

Established in 1875, the University of Maine Alumni Association is an independent, not-for-profit organization dedicated to advancing the best interests of the University of Maine and its former, current and future students. The Alumni Association has more than 107,000 alumni members.
