PROPEL hosts 3rd annual Ignition Awards, recognizes Maine’s innovators

PORTLAND — PROPEL hosted its 3rd annual Ignition Awards at DiMillo’s on the Water on June 27. The event, a beach-themed cocktail reception, was focused around innovation and creativity in the Maine business community.

The Ignition Awards was attended from over 200 Maine professionals and recognized local organizations and individuals for their contributions to the Maine business landscape.

Awardees in each category were:

Corporate Social Responsibility Award –The Holy Donut

Growth Stimulation Award –Lone Pine Brewing Company

Innovator of the Year Award –Mateo Hodo, co-owner of Coffee ME Up

Young Professional of the Year Award –Jane Harrell, ‘cause Digital Marketing

“We received dozens of nominations featuring some of the region’s brightest professionals and thriving businesses,” said Jillian Kanter, president of PROPEL. “We were honored to be able to recognize this year’s award winners who truly stood out from the crowd and are doing amazing things to not only support our local business community, but to also raise the visibility of the region beyond Maine. It’s individuals and businesses like The Holy Donut, Lone Pine Brewing Company, Mateo Hodo and Jane Harrell that are making a true impact in our state.”

Months prior to the event, nominees were submitted by peers and community members in the Greater Portland area. Following the nomination process, the public was invited to vote for winners. The 2019 Ignition Awards was sponsored by WEX, Consolidated Communications, Grove Collaborative and Buoy Local, a program of Bangor Savings Bank.


PROPEL’s mission is to help young people and businesses thrive in Maine.
