The Unitarian Universalist Church of Sangerville and Dover-Foxcroft will celebrate this very important multi-day national holiday which focuses on gatherings with family and friends who come together to pray for and remember loved ones who have died. Music, color and merriment
All are welcome to join the celebration as we build an “ofrenda” or altar of remembrance. Willing participants are encouraged to bring photos, memorabilia, food, flowers (marigolds are preferred), candles and decorated skulls and skeletons. Part of the genius of the Day of the Dead (Dia de los Muertos) is the way it mixes celebration and mourning, both affirming life and giving individuals an opportunity to share their grief.
The celebration will conclude with a potluck luncheon. Everyone is asked to bring a favorite Mexican food to share.
Our service is at 9:30am. The church is located on the corner of Main and Church Streets in Sangerville.
