Fort Kent ~ A now familiar fundraising event, sponsored by the Northern Maine Medical Center (NMMC) Guild, to support their ongoing fundraising efforts was held in partnership with McDonald’s Restaurant on October 15th. In a combined effort, the NMMC Hospital Guild and McDonald’s joined forces again this year to raise funds to benefit local patients. McDonald’s Restaurant, at the Fort Kent location, donated a percentage of its proceeds from sales on October 15 with a return to the Guild coffers of $1,000.
Angie Gagnon, McDonald’s supervisor, was on hand to assist the Guild members who volunteered to welcome patrons, clear off tables and have a general presence at the fundraiser to inform the public of the Guild’s work. Even the popular Grimace character was on hand and could be seen waving to passers-by during peak restaurant hours that day. Guild President, Joan Sylvain said, “McDonald’s officials never hesitated when I contacted them again this year to support our cause.” She said they were very excited about providing the opportunity again this year as a way to give back to the community.
