Humor and hurt are dished out in equal measure at Thanksgiving Dinner in this Tony Award winning one-act play. Erik Blake has brought his wife and his mother for Thanksgiving at the new home of his daughter and her boyfriend. His mother is suffering from dementia, and his other daughter Aimee has recently been the victim of a nasty breakup. As darkness falls outside the crumbling pre-war duplex, mysterious things start to go bump in the night and family tensions reach a boiling point.
“The Humans” is directed by Erik Perkins. The cast includes Bart Shattuck, Jeralyn Shattuck, Katie Glessner, Danielle Bannister, Rob Bywater and Christine West.
Following the Oct. 27 matinee, the studio will host a Q&A discussion on the topic of “Dementia/Alzheimer’s Patients, Caregivers, and their Family” to be presented by Sara Grant, LMSW, MHRT/C, Aging and Disability Resources Manager with Spectrum Generations.
Midcoast Actors’ Studio is a 501c3 non-profit, and our 2019 season is supported in part by generous grants from the Maine Community Foundation, Maine Arts Commission and Maine Humanities Council.
