BANGOR, Maine — To kick off the 2015 Relay for Life season, the American Cancer Society is supporting Stand Up To Cancer, and is hosting a viewing party of SU2C’s special 7-9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 5, at Holiday Inn on Odlin Road.

ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, and other various cable networks will be simultaneously showing this one-hour telecast showcasing work of Stand Up To Cancer’s “Dream Teams” of cancer researchers as well as acknowledge donors who help make this all happen. The live special will also feature energizing musical performances and celebrity ambassadors.

Stand Up To Cancer was founded in 2008 to raise funds to accelerate the pace of finding a cure to cancer. SU2C focuses on bringing together the best researchers and mandates while using the entertainment industry to spread awareness.

“Everyone is affected by cancer, whether it’s oneself, a family member, a friend, or simply someone in the community,” said New England Division Senior Manager of Relay For Life, Mike Hart, in a press release. “Relay For Life is all about bringing together supporters. Stand Up To Cancer has given us another great reason to come together for inspiration to continue the fight against cancer.”

The American Cancer Society is hosting viewing parties all across the country to bring together supporters. Registration is $15 and includes a luminaria, and plenty of food at the event. In addition, there will be a silent auction and cash bar to further support the fight against cancer.
