Machias Rainbow Con set at University of Maine at Machias

MACHIAS, Maine — The University of Maine at Machias and the Machias 100 Percent Society are bringing a full weekend of events, activities, music, and art to the UMM campus from Friday, Oct. 14, to Sunday, Oct. 16.
The Machias Rainbow Con has a wide array of events planned including a midnight movie showing of the original Rocky Horror Picture Show with help from talented Emcees from the Barn Arts Collective guaranteeing plenty of audience participation.
The purpose of Machias Rainbow Con is to give attendees the opportunity to focus on gender and sexually diverse characters, authors, artists, and fandom.
The celebrity guest on Saturday is Magdalena Visaggio, author of Kim & Kim comic books, one of the Kims is transgender and the other is bigender. She’ll be presenting on her work as a trans comic book author, selling her books, and giving autographs. UMM is also hosting the first gallery show of Kevin Dutil’s drawings of his GLBTQ Super Heroes.
The event also includes workshops, LARPing, Tourneys, Shakespeare’s Star Wars Readers Theater, Cosplay Contest, live music, and a Zombie Fun Run.
